Proven Treatment Protocols

Recovery That’s Rooted in What Works

Every woman who comes to The Pearl brings her own story—one that may include trauma, chronic relapse, co-occurring mental health conditions, or long-standing patterns of emotional pain. Our approach meets her where she is, offering treatment that’s not only compassionate but grounded in science. We don’t guess our way through care. We use what works.

What Evidence-Based Therapy Really Means

Evidence-based therapy isn’t a trend or buzz phrase. It’s a clinical commitment to practices backed by rigorous research, peer-reviewed data, and long-term outcomes. These therapies have been studied and endorsed by leading organizations such as the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and the American Psychiatric Association (APA).

When we say a therapy is evidence-based, we mean it has been proven time and again to reduce symptoms, improve functioning, and support recovery. These methods are precise, intentional, and adaptable to each woman’s needs.

Why We Choose Evidence-Based Therapies

Addiction affects every part of a woman’s life, emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually. Effective treatment must be multidimensional to address all of these so we rely on therapies that work across systems:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): To help reframe distorted thinking and shift self-defeating patterns
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): To manage emotional intensity and improve distress tolerance
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): To process traumatic memories that fuel substance use
  • Somatic Therapy: To regulate the nervous system and reconnect with the body’s signals in a safe way
  • Motivational Interviewing: To address ambivalence and strengthen a woman’s internal motivation for change
  • Mindfulness-Based Practices: To anchor each woman in the present and deepen self-awareness

These therapies are deeply integrated into everyday life at The Pearl and with the 12-Step model of recovery. This integration allows women to experience emotional regulation, trauma processing, and cognitive shifts that reinforce spiritual and behavioral growth.

How 12-Step Immersion Strengthens the Work

At The Pearl, the 12 Steps are not an afterthought or optional track. They’re part of the core structure. Women live the 12 steps, with dedicated time for meetings, step work, sponsorship, and reflection. As women move through the clinical work of trauma healing and emotional growth, they simultaneously work the steps, making real-time connections between what they’re learning in therapy and how they’re rebuilding their lives.

Each therapy supports the steps, and each step is reinforced by therapy. This dual-track integration ensures a stronger foundation, deeper insight, and a lived experience of recovery—not just knowledge of it.

Healing That Extends Beyond the Mind

Many of the women who arrive at The Pearl have neglected their physical and emotional well-being for years. Our recovery model includes integrative and recreational therapies that help them develop healthy routines and reconnect with their bodies in ways that support sobriety and build lifelong wellness habits:

  • Yoga, Pilates, and fitness classes support strength, flexibility, and nervous system regulation.
  • Swimming in the on-site pool offers both movement and reflection, a calming practice that soothes the body and mind.
  • Pickleball games help women reengage in fun, lighthearted activity—while building confidence, social connection, and a sense of play.
  • Ten acres of open green space invite walks, journaling, and outdoor meditation, helping ground emotional recovery in nature.
  • Nature-based and outdoor meditation sessions offer daily opportunities to reset emotionally and stay present.
  • Massage, acupuncture, and sound healing provide nonverbal avenues for emotional release and trauma resolution.

The Pearl’s residential facility combines the comfort of a historic home with intentional design for privacy and livability so the setting itself is part of the healing. Communal areas foster sisterhood, while quiet spaces offer room for solitude. Shared meals in the farmhouse kitchen and fireside group gatherings become part of the rhythm of recovery every day.

These services are carefully chosen to help each woman begin taking care of herself often for the first time in years. As new routines are established and reinforced, sobriety stops being a daily struggle and becomes a natural outgrowth of a life well-lived.

Why This Approach Works

Our women leave treatment with clarity, emotional maturity, a deeper sense of self, and a solid spiritual practice to help them stay sober. They’re not struggling to stay sober every day, they’ve become women who live from a place of wellness, integrity, and connection.

Choosing The Pearl means choosing a treatment model that addresses the full human experience. Clinical excellence, spiritual grounding, and embodied healing come together here in concert. This is recovery that holds.
