Extended Care & Supportive Living

Time to Practice. Space to Become.

Extended care at The Pearl is where recovery becomes real life. After completing our foundational 90-day program, women continue living in a supportive, structured environment designed to reinforce everything they’ve learned.

Structure With Autonomy

Women in this phase of care have more freedom, but they’re never without support. The daily rhythm continues – waking up on time, making the bed, showing up to meetings and groups. These small habits matter. They anchor each woman in recovery while she builds a life of clarity, emotional maturity, and self-respect.

A Home for Healing

Our Elgin campus offers privacy, safety, and community. With shared meals, 12-Step meetings, career and academic support, and daily routines, this home fosters everything The Pearl stands for: stability, growth, and purpose.

Program Features

  • 12-Step Integration in Daily Life: Step work continues at a deeper level. Women work with sponsors, deepen peer connections and continue processing steps. Steps 10, 11, and 12 – accountability, spirituality, and service become part of everyday living.
  • Clinical Continuity: Residents continue with individual therapy, group sessions, trauma work, and evidence-based modalities like EMDR, DBT, and somatic therapy. These approaches support the emotional work that surfaces during extended step immersion.
  • Trauma-Informed Living: Everything from daily routines to relationships is approached through the lens of trauma responsiveness. Healing happens in an environment that protects emotional safety while gently challenging old patterns.
  • Relapse Prevention in Real Time: With more access to the outside world comes new challenges. This phase is critical for identifying triggers, practicing boundaries, and making mistakes in a space where support is still built in. Women learn to navigate life sober—while they’re still surrounded by care.
  • Sisterhood and Support: Community is vital to recovery and living the 12 steps. Women support each other through step work, setbacks, and success. This network becomes the blueprint for the kind of relationships they’ll seek and build after The Pearl.

A Transitional Space for Real Growth

This phase gives women the time and space to truly embody recovery. They begin to believe they are capable because they’re living it. Each step they take becomes more natural. Each win becomes more real.

  • Attending 12-Step meetings in the community
  • Practicing honesty and accountability daily
  • Taking initiative in group settings
  • Building a vision for what comes next
