Academic Support

As part of our comprehensive approach to recovery, The Pearl provides an avenue for academic support and advancement to our residents. We recognize that substance use disorder often disrupts the educational journey, leading to situations of ‘failure to launch.’ As the fog of addiction lifts, we rekindle our residents’ passion for learning.

Long-Term Treatment + Academic Progress

The Pearl’s long-term treatment program provides a unique opportunity for our residents to make significant strides in their academic journeys. With durations ranging from three to six months, women in our care have the time to engage with their studies, allowing them to experience the joy of learning without the pressures and distractions of the outside world. This can mean taking an online course for college credit,  learning a new vocational skill or training relevant to one’s career.

Building Confidence Through Learning

Our academic support program is designed to boost the confidence of our residents in their intellectual capabilities. We believe that successful learning experiences can greatly contribute to the rebuilding of self-esteem, which is often eroded by substance abuse. As women rediscover their academic potential, they find an empowering sense of achievement that reinforces their recovery journey.

Tailored Support for Individual Needs

We understand that every woman comes to The Pearl with unique academic goals and needs. As the clouds of addiction clear, women often reconnect with their intellectual curiosity and passions. Our academic support program nurtures this reawakening, encouraging women to explore their interests and cultivate their intellectual abilities. Some may want to earn their GED, others might aspire to get into college, and some may simply wish to explore new areas of learning. To accommodate these varying aspirations, our academic support program is flexible and personalized. We offer assistance in a range of subjects, test preparation, and application processes, adapting our support to each woman’s individual academic goals.
